Spring Engagement Session

Pirates Cove in Avila Beach is simply stunning especial for engagement sessions in San Luis Obispo, County. Pair that with lush, green hills and you have an amazing location for portraits. With views of the Coastline from Port San Luis to Point Sal on a clear day, you will be amazed by what you see. During certain months, you may be able to whale watch. Year round, you can see dolphins, sea otters, seals and various birds. This once was a whale look out for whale fisherman over a hundred years ago. You can also hike to Avila Ridge for an even higher view point. It is a very difficult trail though and will kick your butt.

Pirates Cove also features a nude beach on one side of it but I usually try to stay on the calmer side of the mountain top like you see here in the pictures. Rich, golden color is always a priority for me so I like to photography 90 minutes before sunset.

Matt and Sharon had never been to this location before but loved my recommendation to use it for their engagement session. We first stopped at Pismo Beach, below Sea Crest Hotel to get some beachy photos and explore the caves during low tide. Once we arrived at Pirates Cove we found my favorite spot available and dove into fun photographs. I have to mention the stunning ring that Matt gave Sharon because it is one of the best I have ever seen. The detail is incredible and it was designed by Matt so it has even more special meaning to Sharon. The sparkle in the golden hour light was spectacular.

Matt and Sharon will be getting married in May and I am so excited to be their wedding photographer. I enjoy getting to know my clients and hearing about their love story so I can capture it perfectly for them.
